Background Information
Personality: Sultry, conniving, sarcastic when in pirate-mode. Naive and gentle when she's not under pressure to survive.
History: Her father, Jacek, wasn't around much, but when he was, he taught Vala his trade: thievery. When she was in her early twenties, she was captured by the Goa'uld Qetesh and made to be her host for four years. A trokra freed her and nursed her back to health, but she was attacked for the things Qetesh had done, and had to flee. She sought refuge on one of Qetesh's mining worlds, and, pretending to still be Qetesh, ruled over the people there as a benevolent goddess, save that she had them continue to mine for her. Eventually, she left, pursuing her life as a con artist in a myriad of other ways.
Then she met Daniel jackson while attempting to steal the Earth vessel Promethius. Daniel Jackson turned the tables on her and reclaimed the ship, but she escaped.
Later, she came to visist daniel at the SGC, claiming to have a leade on the whereabouts of an Ancient treasure. In order to force him to use his Ancient knowledge to help her retrieve it, she placed a pair of Kor'Mac bracelets (a sort of Jaffa handcuff set) on them both, which "tied" them together invisibl; if they got to far apart, they got very ill. They did indeed find the treasure, but she wasn't allowed to keep any. Instead, SG-1 came back with a communication device that, when they activated it with a pair of stones, sent Vala and Daniel's consciousnesses to another galaxy. There, they nearly died (Vala twice) and inadventently alerted a malevolent Ascended race, the Ori, to the presence of humans in the Milky Way galaxy.
The Ori decided to come over and force the humans of this galaxy to become their followers, an act which psychically increased the Ori's power. Vala aided Daniel and the SGC in finding a way to stop the Ori (being a pain in the ass along the way) -- at least until she risked her life to destroy an Ori "Supergate". This act led to her being trapped in the Ori galaxy, where she was miraculously impregnated. She married a man named Tomin, to keep from being burned alive as a sinner, but did come to love him, to a degree. Eventually, she found a way to contact the SGC, using a similar device to the one she and Daniel had used before and talking through Daniel, warning them about the armada the Ori were building.
A short while later, she gave birth to Adria (whom she named after her evil stepmother), the Orici, a human with Ori-like powers. Adria was already half-grown, in less than a day's time, when Daniel managed to beam onto the ship Vala was being kept on and rescue the space pirate, leaving Adria behind. The Ori began spreading their false religion throughout the Milky Way galaxy, killing entire populatins of planets that wouldn't bow to the new gods. Vala stayed with SG-1, eventually becoming a fully-fleged member of the team, intent on trying to stop the Ori. She felt personally responsible, not just because she had (inadventantly) led the Ori to Mily Way, but also because she'd birthed zealot Adria (even if, again, that was unintentional). After a long hunt, they found a device that was able to destroy the Ori, but Adria then ascended, taking all of their power. SG-1 then looked for another device, the Ark of Truth, which freed their followers from Adria's hold. A battle with Morgan LeFey then led the significantly-less-powerful Adria to leave this plane of existence. Vala decided to part amicably from her husband and remain with the SGC.
Their relationship has been a tumultus one, with Daniel softening considerably towards Vala but balking at any suggestion of any sort of romantic/sexual interaction between them. Even so, when the two were trapped in a time-dilation bubble, they ended up together; although times was reversed, thus erasing the event, perhaps they might again.
